A veterans support group has blasted the woman behind a viral video targeting a group of soldiers helping amid the flood crisis.
A veterans support group has blasted the woman behind a viral video who yelled “****ing wankers” at a group of soldiers outside a northern NSW fast food restaurant.
The group of defence workers were parked at a Chinderah McDonald’s when they were filmed.
The Australian Army have been called in to help with flood assistance in northern NSW.
In the video, a woman can be heard yelling to a soldier: “Any chance you could get to Lismore?”
The video was captioned: “Working hard I see boys. Feeding their faces at Chinderah KFC clean as! So mum had to give them a spray.”
An online Australian veterans support page, The Pineapple Express, slammed those behind the video, asking “you can’t be serious, right?”
“This is obviously a designated pit stop while they are driving to their destination. They have to adhere to policy which forces them to have specific timed breaks so they don’t crash their 30 tonne vehicles,” it said.
“We have a small army, it’s extremely difficult logistically to get support to every single town.
“Also, soldiers cannot independently just leave and help, they need orders.
“Blame the government for not being better prepared, not the poor digger who would drop everything and leave their family to go help yours.”
